13. Death

This is not a literal omen of death.
It is the ultimate symbol of change.

Mortality and nature’s cyclic patterns. This card contemplates the death or change of an idea, artwork, artistic process or perhaps of an art community or an era.

The most difficult thing in facing Death is letting go of the womb. That comfort zone of the past, the familiar, of how things were and/or how things were done.

Embracing change is taking a vulnerable step into the unknown. A decomposition of old patterns and ideas; clearing or harvesting space for new life to grow from.

Journal Prompts

What has changed in your journey that you have (or need to) let go of?

What is ‘the womb’ that you have out grown?

Have you left it behind or do you still carry it around with you, trying to bring it into the new womb?

Self Portrait Prompts

Yourself letting go of your ‘past’ life and your womb. Embracing change.

Or, yourself as a cadaver.
